Castle of the Llamas Frequently Asked Questions

What are the game requirements?

COL requires a true IBM PC compatible with a CGA graphics adapter or higher running MS-DOS or a compatible OS, such as FreeDOS or DR-DOS. The game aslo makes use of a PC speaker, but that may only be for the introduction. The user will also need arrow keys for control.

What is the storyline of this game?

You'll have to play to see...

I appear to be able to walk through walls. How can I report this bug?

The walk-through-walls bug is a side effect of the control mechanism. The arrow keys in GW-BASIC are operated using the ON KEY ... GOSUB... construct. This means that regardless of the the game being in a collision detection loop, the user's keypress is processed. Not a good way to handle things in retrospect. This will not be fixed.

I've become trapped in a corner of a room with an ogre/sniper in it and can't escape. What should I do?

You need to restart the game. You've discovered another quirk in the game!

How can I get the game to run on Windows95/98/2000/XP?

If you had read the earlier question pertaining to system requirements, you'd understand the answer. The game requires an MSDOS-compatible OS. This means the game may work on a modern Windows system, but not necessarily. You should consider installing DOSBox if the game does not work under your version of Windows.

This game is stupid!

Is that a question? Wait, is this an answer?
